Guess what I got!!

So I found a dotting tool at Bartell's for $3! I am in love! It's such a fun simple tool to make really cool manicures! Here are the two I've done so far:

New Color Swatch

This week I bought the Sinfully Magnetic polish in Stuck on You. I've never tried a magnetic polish before, and I have to say I'm not impressed. It's supposed to have a star pattern, but it just ended up looking weird.

Overall impression of magnetic color: not worth the money.

Legally Blonde!

My best friend Mike is in a production of Legally Blonde right now, so of course I needed to have a great pink manicure for the show! I used Sinful Colors in Daredevil then frosted the tips with Revlon's Stunning. It turned out great! And I got a ton of compliments! OMG You Guys!

ABC challenge: C is for Cybermen

What else could the C of Doctor Who be for?

To do this design I used Sally Hansen Xtreme wear in Celeb City then I used a black nail art pen to draw the Cybermen faces. Pretty easy!

B is for Bad Wolf

Here's the next letter for the ABC Challenge from Llama Nails! I decided to continue with my ABC's of Doctor Who theme and went with B is for Bad Wolf. *Spoiler Alert* During the first season, in order to save the world and save the Doctor, Rose looks into the eye of the TARDIS and becomes the entity of Bad Wolf. Her eyes give off this awesome golden/yellow glow and I decided to model my mani after that. Here's what Rose looked like in the episode.

I used a base coat of Sally Hansen Xtreme White On, then layered Wet n' Wild Fast Dry The Wonder Yellows over for a creamy yellow, then sponged on a stripe of Orly Luxe for a golden shimmer. Topped it off with Out the Door top coat. I loved this mani, but it took forever and I didn't let it dry completely before I went out and ended up ruining it. Sad day.

New Color Swatches

So recently Bartell's Drug store was having a 3 for $5 sale on Sinful Colors, so of course I picked up some new polish. I did swatches of each of the colors. All around I really like each color. The only ones I had some issue with were HD Nails (the non glitter green) and Call You Later (the glitter green not pictured.) HD nails was an awesome color, but when I removed it, it left my nails with a weird yellow tint. I haven't repainted my nails for 2 days since I took the green off and still they are stained yellow. An unfortunate side effect from a really nice color. The Call You Later glitter would simply not come off. I soaked in acetone and scrubbed with a sponge and cotton ball to no success. I had used it as the tips of a french mani and unfortunately had a performance that night that I needed to remove it for, so I ended up having to cut the tips off because it wouldn't come off. It was an awesome green glitter, with a very sad end. The other colors I bought were Let Me Go (an iridescent light purple), Cinderella (a light blue with gold shimmer) and Daredevil (a neon hot pink). I loved every single one of these colors. Also, I didn't do any cleanup after I painted them as they were just swatches, so please ignore the sloppy edges. Here are the swatches!

Let Me Go

A is for Angel (Weeping Angels that is)

So I've joined another challenge with Llama Nails, check them out on Facebook here . Essentially, each week we do a design inspired by a letter in the alphabet. I've decided to challenge myself one step further and do alphabetical and Doctor Who inspired nails. So for the first week I present A is for Angel. In Doctor Who there are these terrifying villains called the Weeping Angels. Basically if you are looking at them they are stone and harmless. Once you blink or turn your back they attack. Scary... Anyway, I immediately thought of stone and have wanted to try water marbling for a while so why not give creepy dark marbling a try? It did not turn out well. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but it was a disaster. See photos.

After cleaning up that mess I thought I'd try a simpler marbling technique by sponge painting my nails and then free handing some folded angel wings onto the edges. These turned out much better.

One of these days I'll have enough time to clean up my nails before I take pictures and I'll use a better camera. For now, this is what we get. Anyway, check out any of the other folks doing this challenge here: Check in next week for the letter B.
